DELAWARE

SECURITY GUARD TRAINING

We offer a security guard training course each month.  Accommodations can be made for applicants with a work or school scheduling conflict - just call our office and we'll be glad to work with you to meet your special needs. We respect people who are interested in working in this field are we are dedicated to getting motivated people the training they need to accomplish their goals. To prepare for the course, Professional Licensing offers a PDF study guide.

In addition to test prep, we focus on real-world skills which will enable our applicants to approach potential employers with real confidence in their ability to perform as a security professional. As a service to our trainees, after the training is successfully completed we provide emails with security guard job postings from our local area as our office learns of them.

Upon successful completion of our training course, applicants will receive a certificate of completion. This is the first mandatory step to becoming a security guard in Delaware. This certificate is required to gain admittance to the security guard exam at one of Delaware Technical and Community College's many locations. DTCC Security Guard Test dates are scheduled once each month. Passing the DTCC 50 question exam with a minimum score of 75% is the second mandatory step to becoming a security guard in Delaware.

Alternatively, the applicant can provide fingerprints to Delaware's State Bureau of Identification (SBI) in Kent, Sussex, or New Castle and a background check will be conducted before the training and testing, but SBI will not release the results, until training certification and testing certification have been delivered to SBI offices. Once applicants have successfully completed both training and testing, and SBI has completed the mandatory background screening, the applicant will be a non-commissioned State of Delaware Security Guard with a license good for five years.  Guards must complete training and the test again prior to the five-year expiration date.

If applicants prefer to wait until they connect with an agency to get their fingerprint submitted, remember - the fingerprint background must occur within one year of the training and testing - the training/testing certifications are good for only one year.

Applicants who complete our training course will learn it is designed to fully prepare them for the required DTCC test as well as provide additional knowledge and specific skill sets which are needed to become a true security professional. Our goal is to help applicants become security guards who can confidently and competently perform their assigned security duties within the law.  In addition to test prep, we focus on real-world skills which will enable our applicants to approach potential employers with real confidence in their ability to perform as a security professional.
